ALTHOUGH every type of cancer has its own characteristics and specific symptoms, there are some common symptoms of cancer that mostly occurs on all types of cancer.
Some types of cancer does not have specific symptoms until the latter stages so that routine screening and risk assessment is a must. Here are 10 symptoms of cancer that you should not ignore in order to perform detection as early as possible.
a. Losing weight is not unreasonable
Significant weight loss over several months with no obvious cause can be one of the major signs you may be suffering from cancer. This condition is most common in pancreatic cancer, stomach, esophagus, or lung.
b. Fever
Fever may be associated with some types of cancer. Nearly all cancer patients will experience a fever, especially if the cancer treatment affects the immune system.
c. Painful
The pain usually occurs late. Early-stage cancer usually causes no pain. Pain most often occurs because the cancer has spread. This condition is usually felt on the bone or testicular cancer.
d. Changes in skin
A change in skin color or the color of existing mole or the appearance of new lesions. Skin cancer can develop in some parts of the body, especially in people who are chewing tobacco, smoking, drinking, or skin wounds that never healed.
e. CHAPTER pattern changes
Changes in bowel habits or bladder function such as constipation, diarrhea, bleeding in the urine.
f. White spots on tongue
This condition is also known as lenkoplakia which can develop into cancer of the oral cavity. Precancerous leukoplakia is caused by irritation. If left untreated, can become cancerous oral leukoplakia.
g. Unusual bleeding
That could happen in early or advanced stage cancer. Blood in the sputum (phlegm) may be a sign of lung cancer. Blood in the stool could be a sign of colon cancer or rectal cancer. Cancer of the cervix or endometrium (lining of the uterus) can cause abnormal vaginal bleeding. Blood in the urine may be symptoms of bladder cancer or kidney cancer. Blood from the nipple may be a sign of breast cancer.
h. Lump in breast or other body parts
These symptoms may be caused by reasons other than cancer. Doctor is the best person to identify it. Instead of waiting for the more severe symptoms better you undergo periodic medical examinations.
i. Indigestion or difficulty swallowing
This condition is usually associated with cancer of the stomach or esophagus. Immediately see and treat is the best way to prevent further progression.
j. Cough
This may be one of the major symptoms of throat cancer. If the cough has not healed for a long time, perhaps a symptom of lung cancer or vocal cords.
